waterfall on Johns Creek 1

One of the main reasons for heading up to Harry's this week end was to see some new waterfalls. I had seen Facebook post showing a waterfall I hadn't seen before. I sent the guy a message and he quickly told me where it was - and there was another one also. I knew I wouldn't be able to check them out for a couple of weeks, so I emailed Bernie with the info. The Finder of the Falls soon reported back with pictures and good news. He also found this one on the nearby Johns Creek.

We still had time after leaving Dry Falls for a little exploring - and the rain had let up - so we headed back to Cashiers and north on Hwy 107 to the Caney Fork area. But when I went and looked for the directions I had printed out, they were no where to be seen. I coulda sworn I put them in the car. No problem - I knew to go to the end of Sugar Creek Rd and I should be able to wing it from there. But when we got to the end of the pavement on Sugar Creek Rd, the road split. Left looked like it just headed up to a house, so we headed right - which was wrong. Dammit! It was looking rather dark again, so we gave up and headed back down to Caney Fork Rd. Not to be denied, I was pretty sure I remembered where Bernie said the waterfall on Johns Creek was, so I took a left when we got to Johns Creek Rd. Sure enough, 2.5 miles up is this waterfall on the right side of the road down a steep bank. I drove a little past the waterfall and parked on the left at the bridge, then we walked back down and looked for the least steep place to go down. Too bad some pigs have thrown their trash down the bank.
