Harry had been to Table Rock Mountain many years ago and wanted to go back. I had never been so that's where we decided to hike on Saturday. From the Linville Campground we headed up to the Parkway, then south on Hwy 181 until we came to the sign for the right turn to head up the mountain. The road is paved through the Gingercake community, then turns to gravel once it enters the Pisgah National Forest. The road passes by the trailheads for Sitting Bear and Hawksbill Mountains before the turn to head up to the parking area for Table Rock. From here we had to choose which way to go on the Mountains to Sea Trail. We began by heading north up to the Table Rock summit. Not too far up was our first glimpse of what we were in for.
