I had planned just to head back up to Harry's in Lake Toxaway for Labor Day week end, but when I talked with him during the week he suggested camping somewhere. That sounded good since there still hasn't been enough rain and the weather called for sunny skies. Now - where to. We settled on the Linville Falls campground since there was a ton of stuff in that area that neither one of us had seen. The campground is some reserve (which I didn't know) and some 1st come sites. Good thing we got an early start on Friday because the campground filled up fast.

We got set up, then got the map out to pick out a spot to head to. Neither one of us had been in Linville Gorge, so we picked the Pine Gap Trail since it was the closest. Once the trail got close to the river, we found a fisherman's trail that led down to the river. Since the water level was low, we figured we would just wade and rock hop down to see what we could see. There was a nice late summer wildflower display along parts of the river - the purple Ironweed is in the middle of this shot.
