We also had to stop at The Sinks since it was right along the road. It's a popular swimming hole and I was surprised that we got a parking spot. Once here, I pulled out the map and noticed a trail continues back along the river towards Meigs Falls, then cuts back. I figured maybe there was a trail from that bend over to the waterfall, so off we went down the trail. The trail did a lot of climbing and by the time we got to the bend, we were well above river level and there was no trail down. This was no time for that type of extreme bushwhack, so we called uncle and headed back to the vehicle. The ride back through Gatlinburg was very unpleasant and slow, so drinks were in order when we got back to the house.
