My pals Hal and Nancy live in Sparta, NC and it was way past time for another trip up their way. I really wanted to get a look at Grayson Highlands State Park and it's only about 45 minutes from their home, so that's where we decided Saturday's outing would be. There were 2 reasons I wanted to come here - the high country views and the wild horses or ponies. I've seen them called both so I'm not sure the correct name, but they are small. We parked at Massie Gap once inside the park which is where we needed to be to see both. This is the view up from the parking area.
