I was coming off nights this week and had planned on doing chores when I got up. A thunderstorm woke me up around 10AM and I immediately thought about JC's picture he had recently posted of Mingo Falls with a lot of water coming over it. So much for chores. I headed up to Soco Gap to catch the Parkway to Cherokee and as I got closer to the Smokies ran into some of the areas burned by the very recent wildfire. It wasn't very damaging along the road - mostly just underbrush - but I could see scorched areas on the next mountains over. I didn't stop to snap a shot, but continued on to Big Cove Rd and up to Mingo Falls. Mingo is one of the taller waterfalls in the area at about 150' high. It was now early afternoon and the sun was kind of harsh for shooting. There were also people bouncing up and down on the viewing platform, so I took a few more shots, shot some video, then decided to head over to Mingus Mill in the Smokies. I planned on coming back to Mingo later in the afternoon.
