I've been meaning to get back to Catawba Falls to see if any changes have been made since the Foothills Conservancy purchased the land used for access to the upper section of the Catawba River over a year ago. I was hoping something better had been set up to cross the river about 10 minutes up the trail, but it's actually worse than it was the last time I was there. There are still rocks to step across, but you'll need a stick to keep your balance - and you still might get your feet slightly wet even if you stay on the rocks. Farther up, the trail crosses Clover Patch Branch and this small waterfall is on the right. The topo shows the possibility of more waterfalls up creek.
