Chimney Rock Park near Lake Lure is North Carolina's newest State Park. The park has been in private hands for years but was recently purchased by the State. Nearby land which includes World's Edge and other areas in the Hickory Nut Gorge had already been acquired for the new State Park. The Chimney Rock acquisition really sweetened the deal. The previous owners will continue to run the park while a master plan for the park is developed. Click here to go to this section of my web site for more info on the park.
