Mystic forest

In the geographical heart of Europe, spanning Eastern Poland and Belarus, lies an ancient forest, the Bialowieza National Park. One part of it is so protected, that you need an official guide to take you along a sanctioned route. The guide, my dad and myself spent six hours there last week which provided us with a profound experience. Upturned two hundred year old oaks lie for a further sixty, undisturbed by man's need for more veneered particle board kitchens. Their death becomes home to new life as the health of a forest is judged by its biodiversity, and not by its decay. We had entered a cosmos of particular rules and systems of nature that some humans seem so hellbent on destroying. There was the most beautiful silence I had ever heard.
