Selinunte & Segesta

Selinunte was an Greek city on the south-western coast of Sicily.
The archaeological site contains five temples centered on an acropolis.
Of the five temples, only the Temple of Hera has been re-erected.

Segesta was one of the major cities of the Elemites, one of the three indigenous peoples of Sicily.
The other major cities of the Elemites were Eryx (now Erice) and Entella.

The temple of Segesta, on a hill at the foot of Mount Barbaro, is completely isolated from the urban world.
Its construction dates back to the late fifth century BC, during the alliance with Athens.
