actually I disagree with not taking armies like this to tournaments. While I agree that things should be WSIWYG on converted models (especially on converted models) it only takes a second to ask "that squad is stormboyz, right?", and weapons are pretty obvious, as a plasmagun is a plasmagun.

I guess it depends why people go to tourneys. I go to see new and cool armies and to hopefully play a few cool people -with- cool armies, not to "win" the tournament. While some people might use badly-converted armies to deliberately mislead an opponent, they'll be marked down by their opponents (esp in sportsmanship) and really are cheating if it's intentional.

Between 2 mature players, it's a joy to play against converted armies, and it only takes a second to ask "what are those again?"

And I do like the ork. ;)

i think that you deserve full marks for all the good work you are putting in to these guys as converting new and unique models should only be encouraged!
however, i do think armies like this are best left at home or used against people with whom you play against regularly, and not taken to tournaments where they only serve to confuse your opponents (who ,even though you may point out what is actually what) will spend more time trying to remember what it is that they are playing against than anything else. a clever ploy if you are using it as a means of distraction, but...
i firmly think that players should stick to (and organisers adhere to) the"WYSIWYG" rule - what you see is what you get. this does not discourage originality, as you can still create uniqueness using the backgrounds and material available.
sorry if this offends, but i know i am not the only one with this opinion and i am only being honest.
