Black Oystercatcher

San Leandro Channel, Bay Farm Island, Alameda, CA

With a clam. It was searching for a rock to serve as an anvil for its chisel beak. When it found one, it put the clam down and shattered part of the its shell. Then it pried it open to get at the clam.
