The New, Southern Reaches of Craters of the Moon National Monument

Will Peterson of Walrus and Carpenter Books in Pocatello have taken several noted area photographers out to Wapi Flow near American Falls, one of his favorite areas on Earth. On Sunday, June 26, 2005, he took me there where I took close to 300 photos. Here are some of them.

This place is quite a challenge to hike, and is hours from medical help. So be prepared if you go there and watch every step!

Thanks for the comments and the identification! I thought the yellow ones were butterweed too, but Will didn't agree. I think he probably just knows them by other names. Enjoyed and am still enjoying your pictures and the cherries from your tree! Thanks also for visiting Deborah.

Daisies, yes. Groundsel, or Butterweed for the yellow ones. Showy Penstamon. I don't know for the little white flowers. For the last unknown in the series, I can't be sure because I can't see the leaves at the bottom, but there are other types of buckwheat that might look like that. I'd have to see the whole plant to get an idea on the pea--which by the way wins half my vote as best photo; the other half goes to prickly pear and pahoehoe (5289). Runner-up is #5409. Yes, you were having fun! Keep going in the direction of fun!!
