Aeroplane Jelly

A tribute to my father, Patrick (AKA Peter Surrey) and his whacky sense of humour.

Sadly, he passed away on 24 October 2010. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

May he Rest in Peace.

Remembering his interest in things farming,on family visits to the Mallee,a longtime ago and the infrequent,but happy reunions over the following years with he and Bernie,particularly at his much loved Yacht Club(They put in a lift for him?).Our thoughts are with Bernie and Family.Vale Pat!! Dear Bernice & family. We have not been able to see much of you & Pat lately, but you are often in our thoughts & conversations. Its hard to put into words what Pat meant to us. He was the one good at putting the words together. He could capture the mood of the Rotary Club when he wrote the Bulletin or a story of days gone by. He made you feel at ease when you spoke with him, the exchange always interesting & informative. We are sorry to hear of Pat's passing, he will be missed. Condolences to you Bernice & the family.

Dear Bernice and family. We have had the privilege of knowing Patrick and working with him on Residents' Committee for some years. A lovely gentleman with a good sense of humour and wonderful way with words. He will be sadly missed by the village residents who knew him. His strong faith assures his everlasting peace! Hello Bernie, It is with great sadness that Pat has passed away. He was the originator of The Village Pump which we all enjoyed reading. Fortunately you are well looked after at The Noosa Wateres Estate with folks of your age to share your burden. Erika and I are presently in Victoria and will not be present at his funeral. Tanya and I (Pat's cousin) remember with affection his congenial company as our guest in Folkestone and London and as our host in Noosa. He maintained good family contacts for 70 years after he had left his country of birth. His last e-mail to us showed that he maintained his interest in life and faced his end with courage. Our thoughts and condolences are with Bernice and our Australian cousins.

Very sorry to learn of the loss of Pat Smith; a true gentleman, an interestingand diverse individual, a lover of language, well spoken, and a community spirited human being. A wonderful husband to Bernice, a loving father to his sons and grandfather. Also highly respected in his professional circles and much valued.
