My first ever camera, bought for me second hand by my Dad when I was 10 and the camera was 20. The first of the non-folding Retinettes, it features a 45mm f3.5 Reomar lens and a Compur shutter. Produced between 1954 and 1958. |
30 years on, I take the 50 year old camera for a trip to the footie. Spurs v Brighton in the FA cup. Still capable of making a reasonable photograph, it, like most old cameras is very slow to use. With no light meter and no focus aids, I was using a hand held meter and an accessory rangefinder. Wind the film, take a light reading, set the shutter and aperture, look through the rangefinder, align the images, set the focus, compose, shoot... I think my [mju:]-ii is a bit faster! Sorry if you were hoping to find pictures of the match itself... FP4 and an f3.5 lens don't quite cut it under the floods at the Lane..! |
