Jan 29: Robin

Linda and I have both posted Robins photographed at Heligan today. They were very tame. Tame enough to sit there while I fiddled with my good-old-fashioned clockwork camera. No auto exposure here. Or Auto focus, or even a macro lens. Just me, the MX a 100mm lens focused at it's minimum setting and a few frames of Fuji Neopan.

Linda's shot, which can be seen here is better, but I'm still really pleased with mine!

Pentax MX ,Pentax M 100mm f2.8,Fujifilm Neopan 400

other sizes: small medium original auto

Framing the dark background around the bird worked well to bring it out. There's something about real film grain that digital just won't touch...

I'm not sure I've ever seen a Robin shot in B&W before. Interesting choice, and surprisingly effective!

Pbase claims that the shot is taken on December 29th 2006, which seems unlikely.

How n ice of them to stay put long enough to pose for a portrait . . . our robins are larger and much less conducive to posing
