In the beginning
This was my first camera. A Kodak Retinette type 022, produced from '54 to '58. My Dad bought me this for Christmas when I was 10. If you're wondering, no it wasn't new at the time, I'm not that old!! Although quite a basic camera, with its 3 element Schneider Reomar lens, and without such luxuries as a light meter or a rangefinder, it was very well made, and had all the basics for good photography. Shutter speeds from 1sec to 1/500, apertures from f3.5 – f22 and sync for electronic flash. It still seems to work OK, and the little mechanical noises it makes as you wind the film and fire the shutter are like music! I wonder if I could find an accessory rangefinder to mount on it... oh look there's one on eBay...
