Apr 27: New light

If you visit these pages regularly youíll have noticed that I havenít posted in a while. That was because Iíve spent most of my time working long hours on my teaching qualification. Most nights working Ďtil 10pm and often later. At school Iíd spend lunchtime preparing for lessons and when the kids went home Iíd have a huge pile of marking to do, before planning the next lesson. If I wasnít working Iíd be worrying about some lesson or other that still needed planning. When I was asleep at night Iíd be pre-teaching the lessons I had planned. When I was awake I was so tired I just wanted to go back to sleep. It was making me more and more miserable and the thought of having my own class next year and maybe double my current workload was filling me with terror. I just couldn't do this. So after several stressful meetings with my tutors Iíve decided to drop out of the training. Something thatís both a huge disappointment and a massive relief. Today I packed up all of my coursework, planning and materials into a big box and put it in the loft. It feels good. So thatís that. Iíve now got a few months to work out what to do next. Oh yes, the missing photos. I had been taking the daily pic, but with no time for the processing and posting, they stayed in the camera. Iím not sure if I took anything worth looking at, but Iíll see if I can fill in the gap tomorrow.

That decision sounds like a real relief, and a brave decision. Best wishes with your next steps.
