Centenarian

Santa Cruz Organic Store

I often met this 100-year-old granny at the shop, everyone called her granny Hun, Hun is her husband's family name, she had worked in Ministry of Education Taiwan,
she has pretty good hearing, eyesight and completely healthy teeth, she is always in a cheerful frame of mind, she has a bowl of noodles and a plantain for lunch daily.
She lives alone that her apartment on the upstairs of the building of this shop, her husband has been feeble since his sickness, and her housekeeper looks after him at a convalescent hospital.

Taiwan has a population of 23 million, the number of people in Taiwan aged 100 years or older totaled 1,876 this year,
with 387 more centenarians than last year, the Ministry of the Interior said recently.
Of the total of 1,876 centenarians this year, 93.18 percent were aged between 100 and 104, and 8 were aged 110 years or older, the statistics said.
With 1,170 female centenarians this year, women accounted for 62.4 percent of the country's centenarians, with the two oldest people in Taiwan, aged 112 and 110,
being females. The two oldest men were both 112 years old.
Taipei, with 289 centenarians, had the highest concentration of people aged a century or older, and more than 54.16 percent of the nation's century-old citizens lived in northern counties and cities.

Nice portrait, Vickie. It looks like Taiwan will have the same sort of problems as the US and Japan, with a rapidly aging population.

A great image of this senior citizen as we would call them in the states.
Your information was very interesting ,and it proves that you girls take better care of yourselves than the men do.
Thank you for the detailed information.

Hats off to the Centenarians! Amazing amount of change they have witnessed. I'll wager their conservative eating habits are a key factor.
