Though it has fallen on some harder times in the last few decades, Holyoke was once (and still is) a lovely city. It was known for its silk, and its canals in the mid-eighteenth century. In later years it was known for paper. I have lived nearby all my life, but this is my first photographic foray there. I went with Jim Armstrong, who is a Holyoke native. He's shooting with a Kodak DCS Pro 14n. I shot this series with my little Rebel XTi. Next time I'll bring the 1DS too. I should note that this gallery might make Holyoke look like a ghost town, which it most surely is not. We were shooting in a very small section of the city. |
