Or still what said Frederik Sommer - "The life in itself is not reality. We is that we give life the stones and pebbles." Beyond his technical severity, mainly in photographic composition, You prompts us to the dream upon photographing simple things, printing beauty to them. * The phrases of Nietzsche and Frederik Sommer were extracted of the book Ensaios sobre Fotografia, of Susan Sontag, translation for the Portuguese (by Joaquim Paiva) from the book On Photograph. Publisher Arbor Ltd., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1983. I did the version of the phrases to English with my poor English.

Hi Dimitri! :-) Neither do I understand this so-called concept of Minimalistic art... :-) that's why I never call these images here as (attempted) works of art. As for the gallery title 'minimalistic', I don't intend to make it capitalized in order to imitate the art movement of Minimalism. I name this gallery as such just because it needs a name, and these images happen to show minimal colours & forms (not Minimalist colours & forms). I think photography style is completely a matter of individual preferences. I would be happy to see your minimalistic images, but then if you don't like this style, then there's no point to do it, right? :-) :-) The most important thing is to do something you do like! :-) cheers, v.

I can't get into these for you as individual images, Vera. But I can tell you that you have a wonderful eye for meaningful detail, and you know how to abstract and image down its very essence to make it express an idea. You are an accomplished artist in this particular realm of photography. I hope you will see how the discipline you bring to this kind of work can also be applied to your scenes of everyday life, street photography etc. Less is usually more. There is no reason why you can't bring the lessons you teach us here, into your more human imagery as well.

Adam, those 'from above' photos were all taken from a few bridges in Vancouver. It's quite a thrilling experience standing up there when the vehicles keep passing by quickly, making loud noises. Very nice. A lot of play with shape, lines, angles and, what some scenerys!!. Pictures are cleans, sharps. Nices colors. I guess your Nikon is a good camera. Keep your work!

Hehhe hi Vera, oops superwoman :D Yep I live in Richmond, now with the ridiculous gas prices I doubt I'll be heading to Van anytime soon. However, I have ridden my bike over Burrard Bridge, and it was quite an experience, especially with the husky wind and such, but I have never really noticed the views below hahaha. Well next time I go I'll definitely try some of the aerial photos. Thanks for the inspiration. Eric

ha haaaaa, Eric, I don't mind being a super(wo)man! ;-) You seem to be a Vancouverite too, do you not? I took those aerial photos from Lion Gate Bridge, Granville Bridge, and Burrard Bridge. You should try some time! :-) Walking up there, especially in a brutally windy day, is quite a haunting experience, though... vera. :-)
