We never found out what happened to Topsy. She was a rescue cat we had special times with. We moved house a little less than two years after she became part of our family. She seemed to settle in quite well and we made sure we kept her inside for about six weeks initially. She made friends with one of the neighbours' cats and was happy to let herself in and out through the cat flap as she pleased.

And then, from one day to the next, she disappeared from our lives. We never did find out what happened. There was simply no trace of her. She may have been injured by a passing car or another animal, or just decided that she preferred the house down the road as living quarters.

We will never know, but she is forever in our hearts.
