It's Natalie here...Robin and Fred R. were my friends back then too! Some or many locals will remember me in 1974. I was the first and only 14 year old girl to very often, year in and year out, roller skate up and down the Boardwalk in Venice, from the Venice Pier to the S.M. Pier. At that time, it was completely and totally taboo for an older, little girl to still be riding skates but I didn't care too much at all about what other people thought, all I knew was it was fun, fun, fun! "Going mobile" :-) My passion for skating inspired my (then) newer friend, Jeff R. to immediatly open shop (Cheapskates.) Thus shortly thereafter, began the Rollerskating Revolution in Venice Beach...Although as some may also know, I was left out of the picture in those days and never got any recognition or my 15 minutes fame because the law of average kept me in and out of "Reform Schools for Girls" uh oh, ouch! ha, ha...but I'm still here and I managed to make it out alive and I survived the 70's. Even though, I bearly knew any of the kids my age names, I definitely remember most of everyone faces in these shots. So here's a shout out to all of you who remember. I still have many happy memories of yesteryear...Also recently nowadays, I am finally fulfilling (my then) childhood dream to surf, and I'm really loving it. God is good! Thank you so much for the rad pics, David!!!

That's right, Robin was my boyfriend in the early 70s for a very short time. He paints houses now and is raising his grandson. Still in town.
