Thanks for the explanation...

re: the mural, I think all the people in it are real venice people (and places).

June27 Monday.... pbase had a power outage, on Saturday I think (though if they're in Australia or somewhere that could be Friday for us....ah the internet) and several of their servers went down, so that's why it's slow....Lots of apopogies on the pbase HOME. However I've been snooping about on other pbase galleries for about a year and this is the first time this has happened,,,but s'takin' a while to fix it huh? pbase is HUGE!!!

man dave this site really slowed down !!! I think it's all your fault, lol
to many good pics trying to get viewed at the same time and their server can not take the load.
Venus on the half shell, there is a similar wone on windward but this one was classic, it was "Bolted" to the wall . I bet it is in somebodies house right now. The old man with a walker was a real dude !! I never got his name.

Thanks! Yeah, I know what you mean about looking at pics differently later, how years later you search the edges and the background for historical details, clues to the past...

Ps: I gave you some extra pixels on this one to check out the mural, click "original" under the picture for the biggest possible view

I scanned the original (rather dirty and scratched) negative and it turns out the rest of the mural is there...It's funny that back in the day I was cropping a lot to yield either the 'best' photograph or the the cleanest portrait, whereas now I find myself looking for all the stuff around the edges because it's interesting to all of us. At the time I was somewhat insecure about my technique because a lot of the "pure" photographers at the time were insisting that all the cropping should be done by the time the shutter was clicked. They were even making prints with the black film edges included to prove that they hadn't fiddled with things in the print. I always tried to give myself enough extra around the edges to work with, and now I'm glad I did!
