The paintings in this gallery illustrate my development as a painter over the past 30 years. Starting strictly representational I gradually became more interested in abstraction, believing that, as Mondrian once said: "the emotion of beauty is always obscured by the appearance of the object". However, I also find that satisfying abstract art is very difficult to create, so, as you will see, I still often get "seduced" by the "reality" before me". Although I am no longer active in the Victoria Sketch Club, I still paint occasionally and I have enjoyed my involvement and friendship with its many excellent painters for many years and used to show my work in the Club's Annual Spring Show..
