About the time that you DEROS'd in March 1971, the Bien Hoa Security Police unit was either the 3rdSPS or 6251st SPS. When the manpower was reduced, during Vietnamization, the base was downsized and the Security unit designation changed. I got there in Dec.1970, and left in Dec.1971. When I arrived, the security forces were at about a 700 man strength. When I left, we were down to less than 120 men, including all security, and law enforcement shifts and back office personnel! Kind of a scarey place to be, when you got posted on the perimeter during Tiger (night) Flight, and had almost no back up force, except VNAF, or nearby Long Bien Army Base (which, itself, was downsizing)!

Hello,
My second tour in Nam, I was with the 1st Cav. Div., I worked with members of the USAF SPS and Vietnamese AF QC's at Bien Hoa. What was the the SPS unit numbers at Bien Hoa, such as ______SPS? I'm suffering from "OldTimers"disease and have gone blank. I will never forget the going home party the SPS Airman gave me in the "Roar in Boar" Club in their barracks, 13 March 1971, I had a hang over all the way to the States!!!! Oh, I later changed uniforms and became an USAF Security Policeman in the Tennessee Air National Guard. I also retired as a Capt., Deputy Sheriff.
