The Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) is a radio astronomy observatory located on the Plains of San Agustin (elevation of 6900 ft above sea level), 80 km west of Socorro, New Mexico. The VLA has made key observations of black holes and protoplanetary disks around young stars, discovered magnetic filaments and traced complex gas motions at the Milky Way's center, probed the Universe's cosmological parameters, and provided new knowledge about the physical mechanisms that produce radio emission.
…and why did I call this image "Bounce"; or could have been "Dawn Patrol", or "On the Night" or "In/Casino/Out" (but not Contact)?
Bounce and the other suggestions were all record albums that had the VLA on their covers. Bounce is Bon Jovi's (they even shot the music video for "Everyday", at the VLA). The cover for the Night Ranger's album Dawn Patrol, the Dire Straits's album On The Night, and the At the Drive-In's album In/Casino/Out feature the VLA.
The movie Contact was shot there as well as Terminator.
