We were often surrounded by a wall of elephant grass. Once we could hear cape buffalo near by in the grass. We stopped and waited. They moved on after a while (or did they just go quiet?).

We saw lion and hyena tracks in the sand along the river bed, though we did not encounter any on our walks.
