This great artist was born in Arrecife, the capital city of Lanzarote, an island that was to have a decisive influence on his life and work. Source of much of his pictorial genius, the landscape of his childhood experience bore heavily on his subsequent perception of the world. Lanzarote is the site of most of his spatial innovations. And, at the same time, it is the territory where he implemented a performance model that has determined the present shape of the island. The artist's impressive home is now museum as shown below.
