Thanks for a great set of photos,I used live on Highfield road behind the old Victoria Hospital.
Have been in the states fifteen years although I get home often, these photos tell you why.
...made me feel so homesick...what beautiful photos. I was born in Victoria Hospital too, 10 years before it was closed, and knocked down for that little housing estate. I live in Tennesse USA and have only managed to get back to Yorkshire a handful of times in the last 20 years...Thank you for posting these lovely photos.
I was born at the Queen Victoria hospital in Keighley but spent the first few years of my life in Silsden. Among other things, my father worked for the local fire service. I remember my dad and the neightbour used to hunt rabbits, we used to walk for mile picking mushrooms and blackberries and later trying to catch trout in the River Aire. I have a very early memory of a man who used to come around every evening and light the gas lamp in the street and another chap who used to catch trout by tickling them. Looking now at all these beautiful photographs after all these years the memroies come flooding back, so vivid and strong........ Thanks so much
Beautiful Yorkshire... I was born there, and sure do miss it.
Absolutely great Matthew.
Great pictures. You must have some great equipment. We've got to get to England. It's so beautiful.
I am from Finland and plan to make a trip to Yorkshire summer 2006 (end July - early August). I haven't visited Yorkshire before and have seen English countryside only in pictures. Please give me hints, how to travel on my own, staying overnight in B&B, renting a car etc. I really love these pictures and would like to see it all "live".
SIMPLY WONDERFUL I miss it so
I am from Yorkshire originally too - Silsden, near Keighley. Your pics are lovely to see - especially from my other home here in the Var, south of France - off back to UK next week for 6 months. Love the weather down here - that is all we need in Yorkshire and wouldn't need to be down here at all! Can't beat the Dales and surrounding countryside. Au revoir and Merci!
I used to live in Keighley, your pics make me feel like home again! TY!
Oh my Gosh! You have done an awesome job at putting all these beautiful pictures... I live in the USA and I was fortunate enough to visit England/Scotland last Aug... I loved it! Especially Yorkshire and areas around Edinburgh (Tantalion, sp?)!!! Breathtaking!!! I will visit this site again and will recommend it to friends and family! Thank you very much! Great job!!! Best wishes, Aditi :)
What a beautiful gallerie ! I like very much your splendid country and your photos are simply marvellous. I live in south of France -Hyères -Côted'Azur- but i prefer your romantics green countrysides, your old cottages, your smiling rivers and so on...Thanks for sharing and excuse-me for my bad english.
I am getting homesick looking at these photos! :-) I'm from Lancashire, but I love Yorkshire too. A couple of my favorite small towns in England are in Yorkshire, Skipton, and Knaresborough.
Thank you for your photos.
