Much has been said about the texture, composition .... so I'm gonna pass that but just want to say your works are really inspiring.
Guest 30-Sep-2005 13:33
The composition and exposure are perfect! There's something very classic and maskuline about this SP, like an add for single malt whiskey ;-)

1-Superb composition
2-Perfectly exposed
3-Marvelousely lit

Very enigmatic feeling comes out from this shot probably due to the angle. I just love how both diagonals make our eyes repeatedly go back to the face. Jude said it, one of your best and I completely agree with all her statement.

I had to come back to this image ... I knew that even when I was done commenting. There was something I couldn't quite express and it pulled at me until I realized what it was. When I said stark earlier, I meant the light on your face is true to what is real about every feature and form that is highlighted - true to Niall. Though the light is minimal, it is a harsh one, dead on - stark and raw.
Situating yourself diagonally, with the light fixed towards your face, the viewer follows that line to your jacket - the lapel to be exact, has sharp detail. Yet even with that detail and focus, one can imagine the soft texture. Juxtapositioning of soft and familiar to stark and intensely mysterious. Maybe the two sides to most people?
One of your best, Niall...
If I think of anything else I'll be back. :B

Push the edge till it hurts! Fab framing and so many extra bits that make this photo a winner. The intense drama is accentuated by the eye spark, rugged stubble, slash of blue, attractive cord texture, face quasi suspended in shadow and killer lighting that bites just so bad.Brilliant! What the heck, another vote :P

This is great ... stunning detail in your coat and lapel, and I love the way your face is in so much shadow ... lots of feeling in this image!

very cool sp!
Chris24-Mar-2005 04:09
I like how the face is an afterthought in the photo. The detail of the lapels draws the eye...IMO anyway.
jude24-Mar-2005 03:11
Your diagonal composition - showing just part of the body and part of the face adds mystery to a very stark photo. This would really make a very unique book cover.
You might want to write that book now :B
