february 16: "tied up"; for Antonio

I wanted to do a tribute for Antonio Pierre De Almeida as I really rate the guy's personal, profound and edgy style and his development of and through photography in the last few months. His SPs are particularly good. So I grew my beard for about 5 days until I started resemble a little his smouldering latin look. However, I also didn't want him to think I wanted his babies - just that I liked his photography. Ahem! So I mailed him explaining that I'd thought what I'd taken might be too provocative. This was his characteristc response:

"just got it, didn't know you had already taken the picture. We look alike on this picture ;-) it is provocative. Yet I am a provocative photographer. Anyhow, as "photographers" we have to bare the act of thinking a picture, feeling a picture, taking a it and showing it. That is what makes a strong picture, "Integrity" as a whole process, being true to oneself."

That being said you have my answer on wether I would or wouldn't mind it to be a tribute to my photography."

Bravo Antonio.

An example of what I mean is this one.

Canon EOS 10D ,Sigma 18-50mm f/3.5-5.6 DC
8s f/2.8 at 50.0mm iso400 with Flash full exif

other sizes: small medium large auto

Splendid SP and very interesting concept and caption...
Well, I think Antonio described so well his photography point of view,
and you showed your talent so well here.... and I like your tie very much!

I like the photo. With this tribute you show you have great feeling for Antonio's photos, you have a great sensibility.
What Antonio wrote to you is typical Antonio, I think.
Great communication between you two.

Really well done and a perfectly executed tribute. I love the darkness and composition; there's a flowing and mysterious tension in this (the way the tie is pulled taut for a moment it sort of looked like you were hanging there - but as I saw you had posted a picture the next day I wasn't too worried.). Before you go having anyone's babies though, perhaps you should "tie the knot"? Sweet beard; now just don't start scratching at it with your hind leg...

He is an excellent photographer, but then so are you. This is an extremely appropriate, and well executed tribute. Bravo.

You did a really great job and truly accomplished what you set out to accomplish. I noticed lately how several photographers tribute certain styles of others. I like that idea. I think its like a mirror " This is how I see you" Nice thought and clever idea in the way you did this :)

Ohhh .. my... goodness. I can't believe your vesitility when it comes to SP's. This is so different.. so amazingly different. From the use of the flash mixed still with a darkness. The intensity is thick in both the strong composition and the subject. The diagonal you make with your head and shoulders is "tied" in perfectly with the inclusion of the bit of hand tightening on the other side of that tie. A bit of a beard growth, the upturned face, the lack of shirt beneath the suit is raw and edgy.. and also reminds me of Antonio Pierre De Almeida very much. Amazing shot..
