The pathway leading to Bachelors Grove Cemetary is the only remaining section
of the original Midlothian Turnpike. Originally a Native American trail, it later
became a carriage path serving nearby homesteaders, and finally a small highway.
The new Midlothian Turnpike can be seen towards the right in the photo.
This pathway is now a part of the Cook County Forest Preserve District and has been
closed to vehicle traffic since the 1960's.
