Peleides Blue Morpho - just emerged

Butterfly Gardens, Calgary Zoo

It is an amazing process to watch these beauties emerge from their chrysalis full of fluid and then slowly spread out and dry so they can fly and mate. The beauty of nature!
Adults live for only a short time. They cannot eat; they only drink through their straw-like spiral proboscis. They will fly, mate and reproduce.
