View from Moraine Lake Rockpile

Banff National Park, Canada

This is Peak #1 in the Valley of the Ten Peaks.
Moraine Lake is a glacially fed lake in Banff National Park, 14 kilometres outside the Village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 6183 feet (1884 m).

The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. However, when it is full, it is a beautiful shade of blue. The lake gets its color from the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis.

Moraine Lake was featured on the reverse side of the 1970 and 1978 issues of the Canadian twenty dollar bill.

Outstanding shot. Most people on the rockpile never see this because they're concentrating on the Lake. Majestic is definitely the word. V
