Moraine Lake III

Banff National Park, Canada

Taken at sunrise in June, Moraine Lake is nestled in the Valley of the Ten Peaks (Wenkchemna Peaks) 15 km (20 min) from Lake Louise Village. The road is only open from late May until early October.
Numerous glaciers, lakes and majestic mountains combine to make the Moraine Lake and Lake Louise area one of the most photographed and visited locations in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Its iridescent turquoise colour has earned Moraine Lake the designation, "Jewel of the Rockies," and its intoxicating beauty entices guests to return time and time again.

Thank you for recent comments. I have just spent a facinating time viewing some of your work (which defies comment!) when I came across this shot. We spent three weeks touring the area last Sept and here are some of my shots: http://www.pbase.com/chrishadden/canada Chris :)

I am in awe of this image. It just makes me want to be there. When can I come and visit??? Beautifully captured. I have never had the privilege to hike in this beautiful country. The Oz bush is the best I can do most of the time. Look forward to visiting your gallery again.......Cheers Dianne

Wonderful light and composition. Could you tell me please if this shot was made during the beginning of June or the end? I'm going to Banff pretty soon, so I'd like to know what kind of weather to expect
