I have many thousands of 35mm transparencies taken from around the world, where does one start? I hesitate to seriously invest in any particular scanning technology as tomorrow there will no doubt be something new, and perhaps one day something that can finally capture a 35mm transparency in all it's glory.
For now I'll tease you with a selection of some of my favourites, scanned hurriedly by hand using a makeshift 'Heath Robinson' style device (held together with masking tape, seriously!) attached to my Nikon AF 60mm Micro f2.8D on a D70s body. Natural illumination, manual exposure @ f8 (adjusted on a per slide basis to keep highlights to maximum non-blown out level), manual white balance, manual focus.
Minimal PP in Photoshop CS consisting of: Rotate, Crop and Resize, Levels Adjustment on some, Save for Web. I'm sure far better results could be had were I to spend a little longer optimising each scan.
