This Osprey caught a fish in the shallows near the Sanibel Causeway and carried it to this tree. The fish must be a kind of catfish as it has barbs/spines and is trying to use these to free itself. The Osprey must use his wings for balance as the fish is flopping and he has only one leg to stand on; not an easy position to hold. Osprey typically will kill a fish by removing its head, leaving the good parts for lunch. The fish struggled for awhile and the Osprey kept its distance, balancing itself. Finally the fish expired and lunch was served. This whole process took at least 15 minutes.
