Eagles & Snow Geese.. Nature Entwined (3 Images)

Squaw Creek NWR, Missouri

THE EAGLES TRAVEL WITH THE SNOW GEESE AND DO NOT APPEAR
TO ATTACK HEALTHY ONES.. AT LEAST I HAVE NOT SEEN THIS.

I DID SEE AN IMMATURE EAGLE PULL AN INJURED SNOW GOOSE TO
ONE OF THE MUSKRAT MOUNDS FOR LUNCH. THE SNOW GOOSE WAS TOO
HEAVY FOR HIM TO CARRY SO HE DRAGGED IT ACROSS THE SURFACE
OF THE WATER AS HE FLEW. I GOT SOME IMAGES OF THIS, BUT IT
WAS TOO DISTANT.

WHEN THE SNOW GEESE RISE IN A MASS, SOMETIMES THEY CRASH
INTO EACH OTHER & INJURE THEIR WING..EAGLES WILL FLY OVER
THE FLOCK TO CREATE THIS HAVOC. THIS IS THE WAY OF NATURE
AND OBVIOUSLY HAS LITTLE IMPACT ON THE HEALTH OF THE SNOW
GOOSE POPULATION.

DIRECTLY OVERHEAD.. SNOW GEESE APPROACH THE WATER FROM A
GREAT HEIGHT AND THEN SPIRAL DOWN TO LAND. PROBABLY SAFER..
