- 24th August 2005 - Bang!

If only the guys unloading the freighter knew I had them in my sights!!!

Quick lunch stop with a colleague at the Historic Ships Museum at Birkenhead Docks.
Not enough time to tour the U-boat, but we did wander around a submarine and frigate that
took part in the Falklands war.

Couple of low light handhelds :)

By the way, I was on HMS Penelope heading into San Carlos water right behind Plymouth when she was bombed on the stern in the Falklands Sound. We passed over pumps and fire fighting gear and stood by to take off the crew or help out further as she got the fire under control. Good to know she is still about, though I understand she is under threat now as they want to get rid of her to develop her berth area.

As an ex weapons ‘tiff’ who did a wee bit of maintenance on 20mm Oerlikans it a shame to see the rust on the sight. Fun image though.
Dean, they went for a bit more than a couple of months. It was a regular thing in the ‘80s to do a 6 month deployment on surface ships and we considered ourselves lucky compared to ‘old timers.’ Around the time of WWII the ships would stay on station and the crew would join her for a 2 – 3 year deployment and swap ‘on block’ to another ship in home water [if they were lucky.]

Fun shot. Just don't pull the trigger. :)

...and you'd obviously got your finger on the trigger!

I hope that wasn't loaded!

Very nice shots. I had a tour of a WWII sub at Pearl Harbor; it is horrifying to think of going to sea for a couple months in something like that.

Your title made me laugh, it does appear you are targeting them!
