- 3rd May 2005 - Rape!

Field on the way to Edgehill College, Ormskirk.
Seen over last few weeks, but never had time or place to stop.
Spotted handy bus stop tonight :)

Took full yellow shot too,

but prefered the contrast with the green in the PaD.
Thought the letterbox crop suited the image :)

Nikon Coolpix 8800
1/102s f/4.8 at 32.4mm iso50 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Rape! :) Very nice yellow colour!

Lovely color. Would you believe that we have to wait until July before they bloom here?

Dug into the soil, rapeseed & others are great green manures. It looks great massed in that crop, Ian.
Bill Miller04-May-2005 15:48
Best picture of rape I have seen...
Karen Stuebing04-May-2005 09:58
Wow, that's a lot of yellow. Fantastic shot.

Horrible stuff, but I like the crop, makes it a bit more interesting!

A-A-A-Choo !

I thought I liked the green showing, too, until I went and looked at the full size yellow shot....I really like it....makes you really "look" at the image. They grow it over in eastern Washington, too, and it really is startling to see huge, bright yellow fields spotted in amongst the green wheat.

Location, location, location. Nice shot, blinding colors.

I wish one could edit posts: this is a better URL.

Excellent shot. As for the title...?

(always been good at puzzles and minutae :-)

Very nice, Ian. The yellow against the green is the better image in my view, too. What's the title mean?
JeremyGood04-May-2005 02:12
Not sure I get the title, but beautiful shot.

Beautiful colors!

We call it Canola in Oz...and it has the same effect here... eye-stopping! Beautiful capture.

Absolutely gorgeous!

Amazing yellow! That field must be so beautiful to see!
Mark Elert03-May-2005 23:27
Too bad with all the nice scenes you see from a car, bus or a train. More than once have I been tempted to pull the emergency brake. It was awarding for you to get out and catch this one.
Stu03-May-2005 22:23
Lovely... but not good for hayfever sufferers
David Clunas03-May-2005 22:08
Looks like you found your way to the field by the M56 then Ian, nice shot.
markvm03-May-2005 22:04

simple composition but very effective

Nice band of colour.
Tor03-May-2005 21:05
Very colourful. I hope you don't get any hits on this photo from the title, but then again - there are many strange people out there...
Janet Lamont03-May-2005 21:03
Nice job. I've tried photographing this wildflower, too, but never found a shot worth keeping.
