- 19th Feb 2005 - OOPS!

I remember being all colonial and superior last night when commenting on
the USA view of HP sauce. Well I got my just deseves tonight. The US
had been talking of bacon sarnies and so-on. Well of course we know best - we
invented them after all.

So tonight I cooked an extravaganza of egg, bacon, sausage, chips, bread and butter,
fried bread for some.... the real thing!!!! The plan was to wash it down with
some cheap red wine recently repatriated from France (another earlier colony).

I was in control. Frying pan, grill, eggs cracked one-handed... is there no end to
our inherent ability to show the US how to have a good time!

Then Denise asked for Heinz Tomato ketchup! no problem. It lives in the fridge...
But you're there already.... it had gone. 2 empty bottles. Had GW called in a special
strike to exchange our previously full bottles for US-drained empty ones!

OK I'm sorry......

Did manage a couple of still lifes in the study - sorry job-hunting campaign HQ.

Guest 21-Feb-2005 23:05
still some in the neck there, get the knife in!!
Guest 20-Feb-2005 22:03
Oh no, how could you let it happen??
Anna Yu20-Feb-2005 21:18
I personally prefer sweet-sour sauce, but ketchup will work in an emergency. Looks like you have an emergency here.

LOL Laine32's comments :o)
We still can get Heinz in Canada in glass jars and "There's no other kinds, when you've tasted Heinz', as they say!

Good pic, nice lighting. We've succombed to the sqeezy variety, I'm aftraid. I understand, though, that there are now containers (not really bottles!)that are purpose made to sit in your fridge upside down. Haven't seen any yet though.

The meal sounds yummy even sans ketchup. I'm not a big ketchup fan myself. Nice photo. Buy it by the case. :)

Well done Ian...you cooked your family a heart attack for dinner/supper/tea...(notice how we all speak english, yet none of it means the same.) LOL !! We don't have Ketchup we have Tomato Sauce...not bought, but homemade.

LOL! First think I thought is I haven't seen glass ketchup bottle forever!! Great story, Ian. Worth a great chuckle tonight!
Guest 20-Feb-2005 02:21
I feel so unpatriotic suddenly. I don't like ketchup or catsup :)
But I do like the shot Ian!

I love when man cook, alone for that it would be worth marrying again lol. Okay, for him to run to the store to get more ketch-up too! There are of course other qualities I recognize...really.
Tor19-Feb-2005 23:29
We are also always out of ketchup. Strangest thing. I remember the add: "Beanz meanz Heinz". I suppose it means ketchup too.
jude19-Feb-2005 23:22
Ohhh I WANT that breakfast meal!!! without the ketchup, though..
James Lundy19-Feb-2005 23:05
Wow, GLASS Heinz bottles! Awesome. I miss those. All we get is plastic now. You know us USAs we get glass we drop it break it, cut ourselves and sue. So we are a plastic society now.

Please no follow up comments on USA being plastic. Thanks :p

Nice photograph.
