This palace photo turned out quite nicely. The flowers are a nice touch. |
I was hoping you could see the fence, but it is just too far away. I should have taken a closer picture, but my feet were telling me to keep moving toward my hotel. It turned out that the hotel was only 10 minutes away. Unfortunately, I never had a chance to walk back to the palace. Now, if the queen woud have called...(grin) |
Another day begins...This photo was taken at the bottom of an escalator at a tube station. I was looking up. It is cropped, so it is actually much longer. The colors you are seeing on both sides are small posters advertising plays, etc. Sometimes the escalators break down, can you imagine going up the center stairway? Remember, since this is cropped, there are a lot more stairs! |
I am about to exit the tube station. You can see the Parliament Building. This would equate with the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. (The building with the dome) |
It is a sad commentary on society, but you can see the razor wire. This is to discourage the 'naughty' people. Well, time to leave the London Underground and see the area. |
Now, this is the London you have seen before...Parliament, and "Big Ben". The traffic is so loud, I could hardly hear the chimes. Also, it rained on this day, also. I decided to pop into Westminster Abbey, but no photos were allowed. |
The London Eye is a huge ferris wheel across the River Thames (pronounced 'tems'). Although I decided not to spend 9 pounds (approx. $13)and wait on an incredibly long line to do this, I did wander over. The view you are seeing shows the river, bridge, Parliament, "Big Ben" and no pigeons! |
This is the "London Eye", the newest tourist attraction in London. The view must be astounding on a clear day! |
This section seems to have developed into an amusement area with ice cream, tourist shops, and a museum exhibiting the work of Salvador Dali. He was a 'different' kind of artist, as you may be able to tell from this sculpture. |
A close-up of Dali's work with "Big Ben" in the background across the River Thames. |
I am not sure, but I believe this gentleman is a guard St. James Palace. I spotted him on my way back from Leicester Square on another day, but decided he fit in with the pictures that are next. |
These photos should probably be in the 'Tower of London' album, since that is where these uniforms are worn. I took photos of 3 postcards and they turned out quite well, so I decided to include them here. This is a 'guardsman'. |
