Just after 6 pm I saw a strange creature walk across my patio. It was a raccoon! I knew
that they lived around the neighbourhood as unfortunately they make rather a mess because they like to
rip open the trash bags each Wednesday night when we put out our trash and I had also seen a few
dead ones at the roadside recently but had never seen one in my garden and never seen one in broad daylight.
I grabbed my camera with my lovely new 70-200 lens, plus 1.4x teleconverter and snapped away for a
few minutes, through the double glazed glass doors, watching the antics of this fascinating animal.
I had been trying earlier in the afternoon to get a photo of something pretty sitting amongst the blossom
on the tree, there had been a squirrel, a tufted titmouse, and many other birds, but the raccoon beats the
lot and especially with the backlight of the low evening sun illuminating his fur and whiskers!
