This is a rare Amanita for us which we may only see once every 5-years. It is immediately recognized, of course by its Amanita stature, but especially by its pinkish-orange cap with pale yellow, delicate warts or patches, and pale yellow stem with a fragile yellow annulus. Its base is often covered with yellow remnants of the universal veil. Its preferred habitat is mixed coniferous and deciduous woods.
