Spent a day in the village of the tribal Hamer people in the Lower Omo Valley. I was lucky enough to be there for the Bull Jumping Ceremony, a ceremony where a young man has to prove his adulthood by jumping over 6 bulls. However, the unmarried women in his family also have to prove the courage of the family by allowing themselves to be whipped repeatedly. In between all this there are gatherings, there is food and drink, and not to forget, a lot of dancing and singing.
