4 - Village Green

The site where the entire population was called to assemble.
Some wondered if this was to check identity cards.
Nobody had a clue about the devastating drama that was about to ensue...

How could they have known that shortly before that ... someone had stolen German Nazis gold in transfer (they must have stolen it from the French to start with!), and in the process, killed the Germans who were transporting it. In retaliation and hoping to recuperate their gold ... they went to this village and commited the attrocities.

A very effective use of selective color, contrasting reality with the unreality of what happened there. Excellent capture. V.
