Al Capone's cell

Alphonse "Scarface" Capone
Chicago’s most famous mob boss spent eight months at Eastern State in 1929-1930.
Arrested for carrying a concealed, deadly weapon, this was Capone’s first prison sentence.
His time in Eastern State was spent in relative luxury.
His cell on the Park Avenue Block had fine furniture, oriental rugs, and a cabinet radio.

On March 17, 1930 Chicago gangster Al Capone and his bodyguard Frank Cline are released from Graterford, a branch of ESP where they had been transferred the day before.
Their release from Graterford instead of ESP was ordered by the prison's Board of Trustees, most likely to avoid potential violence or mayhem outside of the Philadelphia prison.
Still, hundreds of onlookers gathered outside of Eastern State, hoping to catch a glimpse of Capone, until Warden Herbert Smith announced that Capone and Cline had already been released from Graterford.

Even though it looks plush, I don't think I could live there in the concrete cell and the light from the top looks limiting on darker days. V

Much nicer than his cell I saw on the "Rock" I saw in San Francisco. I have to assume he had another cell next to this one with his bathtub and toilet. I like his skylight(hope it doesn't leak when it rains) but don't care much for his choice in wall colors.
