Say ah..............

"Say ah.............."

Mr. Emu lives up the street from us. Last year he broke free of his fenced-in field and found his way to our home.
Not knowing how to handle an emu, I was successful in getting him to follow me up the street as if I were the pied piper.
Then the fun began with a dog / emu fight........ Fortunately the emu was able to outrun the golden retriever.
Finally I got the emu into his fenced-in field (after wrapping my arms around his body near the neck & walking him forward).
Gosh I wish that I had my camera on me that day!
All's well that ends well!

Mr Emu looks quite mean, without meaning to, I am sure. And what a story... :)

Great story and striking capture! I had my own share of encounters with emus when we lived in Australia, and I would have to say they're pretty obnoxious birds. I wouldn't have wanted to be in your shoes that day! V.

Where I come from, emus live in the wild. I have met emus that wander around local farms. Some of them are real personalities. This image is a great capture.

Cool shot and a funny story with a happy ending. I'm just wondering why anyone would want an Emu as a pet.
