Images from a short but rewarding excursion cruise from Punta Arenas, the Patagonian capital, into the Straits of Magellan. M/N 'Forrest'is a refurbished former Falkland Islands supply vessel, refurbished and operated by Expedicion Fitz Roy. Forrest now enables small cruise parties to explore, in some comfort and with expert guidance, the maze of channels and fiords between the South American mainland and Cape Horn. On this occasion we sailed through the night to awake near Santa Ines Island within the Francisco Coloane Marine Park. The afternoon was spent between Carlos III Island and the Barbara Channel, a body of water teeming with humpback whales of all ages.
